The University has given priority to the development of a cultural and sports-orientated living environment on the Nanterre campus by encouraging students and staff to participate in these campus activities and take the lead in organising them.

The University is equipped with facilities and infrastructure for cultural activities that few universities in France have available today. This makes it possible to accommodate many student demands in artistic and cultural areas and enhances the stature of our university. Two main sites host the large number of performances, exhibits and concerts staged on campus throughout the year: The Theater Bernard-Marie Koltès (500 seats) and the Salle Reverdy.
Support and participation in the numerous initiatives and group activities that are initiated on the campus, scheduling and broadening the scope of activities over a wide variety of aspects of cultural life, implementing a policy of partnerships with businesses and professionals from outside of the University, these are the main orientations of the campus cultural policy.
The Paris X library resource network is organised around a common documentation service (SCD - service commun de la documentation) consisting of the university library and approximately fifteen faculty libraries (in total nearly 700,000 works).
Also located on campus: the BDIC (Library of Contemporary International Documentation), serving as an inter-university research library, is a major component of the on-campus research resources.
